Libertarian "Cigar Roll" Event in Indianapolis This Saturady
"What: Libertarian "Cigar Roll" Event
When: June 20, 2009 3:00 PM
Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)
The smoking ban issue is dead in the Statehouse for now, but the anti-business zealots in Indianapolis could convince the City-County Council to take up the issue anytime! Have you heard their ads?
This time, let's support our local Cigar and Hooka Bars. Everyone knows that these fine upscale establishments would be put out of business by a farse like the proposed smoking ban.
So, instead of a Pub Crawl, let's do a "Cigar Roll"!
Check back for details, but we'll be starting at 3pm at the Indy Cigar Bar, then heading to the Egyptian Hookah Bar (4:30 ish), then to the BUDA Lounge (6:00 ish), then landing at Nicky Blaine's for the night (7:30 ish).

New Web Site on Libertarian Talking Points
Chris Spangle, Executive Director of the Libertarian Party of Indiana, has created a new web site - Speaking Clearly: Libertarian Talking Points.
Chris Spangle's mission for the site is:
"This site is dedicated to facts, quotes, and resources to better prepare libertarians of all varieties for arguing the philosophy more effectively."
His first three entries are as follows:
1. Separate Yourself from Extremism
2. A video by David Boaz, Executive VP of the Cato Institute, on a key problem of libertarians (we are too negative - you cannot have change without hope).
3. Benjamin Franklin Quote on helping the poor by leading or driving them out of poverty.

Government Subsidized Smoke Free Indy Rears Its Anti-Business Head Once Again
Smoke Free Indy is having a forum at the end of the month. This group is making the broad assertion at this forum that smoke free workplace laws don't harm businesses.
I wonder what all the owners and patrons of the bars and restaurants in Fort Wayne that failed think about that? They failed when that authoritarian city passed its smoking and business destroying laws.
I hate it when government funded special interest groups engage in such tactics that I believe are based on lies.
Remember that these special interest groups are full of self-imposed elites who believe they know better than everyone else. All hail Smoke Free Indy elites. Must we bow before you and admire your ability to be authorities and try to control our lives with the taxpayers' dime?
Let businesses decide whether they want smoking or not.

Unfortunately, Andy Horning is leaving Indiana for Texas for a new job. Andy has been a great friend to many over the last decade, and has been the face of the libertarian cause within this state.
For many of us, Andy is the first person in our lives explaining the rule of law, Constitution, and that we are in control of our government.
As a small thank you, we are having goodbye party for Andy, giving us one last opportunity to say thanks to him.
Please spread the word by inviting your friends. We are inviting the media that evening to show the impact of Andy's time in Indiana.
If you aren't able to attend, please be sure to leave a note on his wall. Or do both!

New Playboy CEO Comes from Libertarian Oriented Freedom Communications, Inc.
Scott Flanders is the new CEO of Playboy. He comes from Freedom Communications, Inc., which publishes the very libertarian The Orange County Register. He also went to Indiana University School of Law - Indianapolis.
In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, he is asked if he'll have any problem going from a conservative organization to a liberal one - his answer addresses Freedom Communication's editorial policy and is a good very short statement on libertarianism - "we don't like the Democrats in our wallets and we don't like the Republicans in our bedrooms."
