Northeast Indiana Libertarian Picnic Yesterday

Kudo's to Ken and Ellen Bisson for another one of their excellent Northeast Indiana Libertarian Picnics, which was held yesterday. Ken is a former National Vice Chair of the Libertarian Party and currently the County Chair of the Libertarian Party of Steuben County. The picnic is at their home on beautiful Jimmerson Lake northwest of Angola.

Many were in attendance from across Indiana, including:

Susan Bell, Hagerstown, Judge, Hagerstown Town Court (she was elected as a Libertarian in a partisan race for the position)
Greg Hertzsch, Clarksville, LPIN Central Committee Member
Sam Goldstein, Indianapolis, Vice Chair of the LPIN
Jame Goldstein, Indianapolis, 2004 LPIN Convention Chair
Mike Sylvester, Fort Wayne, Chair of the Libertarian Party of Allen County
Rex Bell, Hagerstown, Chair of the Libertarian Party of Wayne County
Robert Enders, Fort Wayne, Treasurer of the Libertarian Party of Allen County
Jeff Smith, Angola, former member of the LPIN Central Committee

As usual, the talk was about Libertarian politics, including

1.) fighting smoking bans at city and county levels;
2.) effective ways to raise money to fund our efforts;
3.) recruiting quality candidates for 2006;
4.) increasing the scope and quality of our candidates' campaigns in 2006;
5.) increasing our effectiveness by being better, more effective leaders;
6.) fighting tax increases that directly benefit a private enterprise, the Indianapolis Colts.

It was a long day, about three hours to and from Indianapolis and about three hours at the picnic, but it was definitely worth it.
