Mike Kole, who is seeking the Libertarian Party of Indiana nomination for Secretary of State, was at the first reading last night of the Geist annexation ordinance attempt by the Fishers Town Council. It has upset the Geist residents targeted by the annexation ordinances.
Already, Mike has had a letter to the editor printed in the Noblesville Daily Times and Fishers Weekly on the forced annexation of northern Geist. It is titled "Annexation is all about money". The Fishers Weekly is a free paper, and is distributed at the Fishers Town Hall, so about 50 very upset Geist residents had the paper and were reading it prior to the start of the meeting, and many read Kole's letter before meeting him last night. They agreed with his letter.
Kole passed out about 45 business cards to residents at the break in the meeting, and was very warmly received by the Geist residents. Hamilton County Libertarian activist Wayne Kirk was present at the meeting , and was meeting others that Mike might have missed. Wayne also directed them to Kole.
Today, Mike is attending an organizational meeting of the opposition efforts at Fall Creek Elementary School. Matt Milam of Concerned Citizens From Home Place will be there. Milam led the recent successful effort to stop Carmel from a forcible annexation of Home Place. Milam will be speaking at this meeting.
