Next Small Business Initiative Event Scheduled for Michigan Libertarian Party Convention

The Libertarian Party of Michigan welcomes the Small Business Initiative group to its state convention on Saturday, May 13. The convention theme is the "Local Business and the Libertarian Party--a Natural Partnership," and speakers were selected to appeal to our members, candidates, and the SBI participants.

You are invited to attend all events of the weekend. Here is a schedule:

Friday May 12, 7:30-10 p.m. Pool party fundraiser to support the Libertarian Party of Washtenaw County. Food from the grill, beer, wine, soft drinks (or "pop" as it's called in Michigan) and fun all provided for the low price of $25. Help support local Libertarians while enjoying a blast of summer at the hotel's indoor pool!

Saturday, May 13 (all participants pays a registration fee)
9 am - 11:45 - LPM Business: election of candidates for public office
Noon-1:30 - Luncheon with speaker: Craig Welch, CEO, Wexford Homes (see bio attached). "Doing Business In Spite of Government." $20/person by 4/23; $30 after 4/23
1:30 - 4:30 Small Business Initiative Break-out Session:
1:30-3 p.m - Discussion of strategy (Mr. Welch has been invited to participate in this discussion), report from Marketing Guru meeting, action planning.
3:00-4 p.m. Discussion of legislation affecting business by Jack McHugh, Legislative Analyst for the Mackinac Center for Public Policy (see attached) "Legislative Mischief in Store for Business Owners."
4:00-4:30 p.m. Wrap up and next steps...
1:30 - 4:30 LPM Business: election of party officers, NatCon delegates, platform debate
5:00 - 6:30 p.m. Social Time - cash bar
6:30 - 9 p.m. Banquet with speaker: Mark Rutherford, State Chair, LP of Indiana. "Who we are--why we exist--who we serve--The Small Business Initiative."
$40/person by 4/23; $50 after 4/23

Cost:
Everyone pays $10 or $15 after 4/23. If you want to go to the luncheon, which we hope you will, add $20/$30. To stay for the banquet, add $40/$50. To do the whole darn thing including the pool party fundraiser on Friday night it's $95/$120. You may register online at www.mi.lp.org or mail in the attached registration form.

How to get there:
The Comfort Inn is off I-94 at exit 159 (you can see the hotel from the ramp). Chelsea is about 15 miles west of Ann Arbor and 40 miles west of Detroit Metro Airport (DTW). If you plan to fly in let me know. I'll try to arrange rides or coordinate shuttle service. Usually, a one way trip is $69, but a member who runs a service will give us a price break.
