Thomas Paine - British Outlaw 1776 - United States Outlaw 2006

Thomas Paine anonymously wrote and distributed Common Sense in 1776. This was contrary to the law of the British authorities for it was done anonymously.

If Thomas Paine did the same thing today, he also would be breaking the federal law as pronounced in BCRA, also known as McCain-Feingold, and most state campaign laws.

The goal of the British was to squelch political speech unpopular with the British government. I believe the goal of our current entrenched incumbents is the same - squelch political speech unpopular with the incumbents. How else will they attack these people with government force if they can't find them?

Looks like we've come full circle. Sad, isn't it?
