Aren't You Glad the City of Indianapolis Now Owns the Water Company? It Is Becoming as Good As Our Inadequate Sewer System.

It was bad news when the City of Indianapolis bought the Indianapolis Water Company. How can you trust a city government that dumps raw sewage in the White River, and has an aging, under capacity sewage system to run a water company? The priority in this City for too long has been other than the basics.

Now the Indianapolis Water Company does not have the capacity to meet the needs of the citizens of Indianapolis. I doubt this will change as it will take hundreds of committee meetings, the hiring of lots of well-connected consultants and several years to decide that they need another study to decide how to solve the problem.

What I'm afraid of is that water will become much like gasoline. Its price will be driven higher unless it is economical and practical to build the facilities to pump it (when is the last time a refinery was built in the United States - a very long time ago - too many rules and regulations - and the limited supply because of the limited number of refineries means the oil companies can charge a lot more and make more profit).
