Fred Peterson for Mayor of Indianapolis Press Conference Held Today

Here's the release on it:

"Good Morning,

On his web site the Mayor says, “To support our neighborhoods, we must nurture them. We cannot simply maintain them. At a minimum we must make sure that the streets and sidewalks are maintained.”

Here at Paxton and Indianola there are no sidewalks across the street and none will be built under the current administration. On its web site the Dept. of Public Works states, “New sidewalks will not be constructed where none exist today except under unique circumstances or as a part of a major capital improvement project. The rationale behind this is that if we cannot keep up even marginally with needed sidewalk repair, then increasing our inventory does not seem a prudent strategy.” Further down, “The need for these programs far exceeds our ability to fund them.”

If the city can’t “keep up even marginally with sidewalk repair” why did the Mayor prioritize all that concrete for the stadium? The answer is corporate welfare primarily for an organization of millionaires. The Libertarian Party is the only political party that is against such a grievous misuse of taxpayers’ money.

The Mayor’s misplaced priorities have resulted in sidewalks such as this one. As Mayor, I will prioritize the basic infrastructure needs such as sidewalks.

I will be holding a news conference on Wednesday, September 12, at 11:00AM on the sidewalk at Paxton and Indianola."
