Newt Gingrich States What Libertarians Have Shouted About For Years - Campaign Finance Laws Protect Incumbents and Reduce Competition

Newt Gingrich has decided to not run for President. He states as his reason for this that the current McCain-Feingold campaign finance laws make communication with his advocacy group a criminal offense if he decides to run and ``If you're a middle class candidate, you get to raise $2,300 a person and if you're rich, you can write a $100 million personal check,''.

He also called McCain-Feingold a ``censorship and anti-citizenship act.''

I hope other people are listening. I also hope that McCain, Feingold and President Bush are at least privately ashamed that they let this affront on democracy and rights become law.
