Many Marion County Libertarians served in an official capacity in yesterday's special election for the 7th Congressional District seat.
Serving as Libertarian Poll Watchers were Margaret Kantz, Marion County LP Chair Barry Campbell, Timothy Maguire, Kevin Fleming and Mark Rutherford. Poll Watchers are officials with the Libertarian Party who watch the votes being counted and note errors, discrepancies, problem with machines, etc.
Serving as Libertarian Count Commissioners were Charles Callihan, Nicole Lang Wieber, John Meuser, Steve Keltner and Jeffrey Lang Wieber. Count commissioners worked with either a Republican and/or Democrat counter-part and feed the ballots into the machines that counted them. While that sounds relatively simple and boring (it was boring), there were lots of things to sign, observe, seal, etc. , all designed to minimize fraud and give credibility to the election results.
Lastly, the above picture is my official Libertarian Poll Watcher card. Without a card, sheriffs would not let one into the area where votes were counted.
