Indianapolis, IN (January 16, 2008) -- The Libertarian Party of Marion County elected Timothy J. Maguire to lead the County Party for the next two years.

Maguire is a former candidate for City County Council at Large and on Monday, January 12 was unanimously approved by the City County Council to be reappointed to the Board of Zoning Appeals Division I.

Maguire is joined by other newly elected officers: Ed Angleton, John Meuser, and Jim Majdak. Vice Chairman Ed Angleton is a former candidate for State House District 100, Secretary John Meuser is a former candidate for State House District 99, and Treasurer Jim Majdak is a former Libertarian Party officer from Lake County.

"We are very excited about the current direction of the party," Chairman Timothy Maguire said Tuesday night. "We've been experiencing an explosive growth of membership and participation this year. The broken promises of the old parties have disenfranchised many voters on the right and left, and our new team is uniquely poised to promote the cause of liberty over the coming years."

The Libertarian Party of Marion County is the largest affiliated county within the Libertarian Party of Indiana.
