Re: My Resignation as Chairman of the Libertarian Party of Indiana

To the Central Committee of the Libertarian Party of Indiana:

It has been a fantastic seven years for me since I started my tenure as Chairman of the Libertarian Party of Indiana in February of 2000. However, as is commonly noted, all good things must come to an end.

Effective Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 11 p.m. or upon the selection of my successor by this Central Committee, whichever is sooner, I am resigning as Chairman of the Libertarian Party of Indiana.

Furthermore, this letter shall serve as notice of a Special Meeting of the Central Committee of the Libertarian Party of Indiana for Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the above-referenced address for purposes of selecting my successor. Such meeting will be waived if there is unanimous consent by all members of the Central Committee to waive such meeting, and provided the consent unanimously names my successor.

The end has come for my tenure, and I leave with great satisfaction and pride based on the accomplishments of the LPIN.

I have rested on the shoulders of all of you and scores of other Indiana Libertarians. Thank you all for your good work, dedication and support.

Very truly yours,
Mark W. Rutherford
Chairman
Libertarian Party of Indiana

Mark- Your tenure as Chair has much to do with my involvement with LPIN. Coming from Ohio almost five years ago, I was deeply impressed with the professionalism and the organization of the LPIN as compared to LPO. The 2002 National LP Convention was my first look at LPIN. Again, impressive. From these impressions, I was determined to become involved with the party when I arrived here in August, 2002.

I believe that any organization takes on many of the characteristics of its' leaders. You deserve a ton of credit for directing LPIN in such a way as to set the standard for LP state affiliates.

Best of luck to you in your future endeavors!

Mark, you are a true class act who has shown the virtues of leadership to an otherwise rudderless ship. You are to be commended for your sacrifices and for the progress the LPIN has made under your leadership, and it is my fervent hope that a worthy successor can be found.
