Guaranteed Four New Officers and Maybe Even Contested Races for Same!

I just received this notice from Mike Sylvester, Convention Chair of the 2007 LPIN annual convention:

"Libertarian Party of Indiana State Convention

Greetings!

The 2007 Libertarian Party of Indiana Convention and annual business meeting is rapidly approaching and we have huge news.

The Indiana Libertarian Party will be electing four new officers at the upcoming annual meeting! So far there is only one declared candidate for each elected position; however, after a recent informal meeting in Fort Wayne two members of the Allen County Libertarian Party are considering running for office to ensure that Indiana Libertarians are given "choices" in the upcoming election. Any Allen County Libertarians running for office may have a "home field" advantage since the Convention in being held in Allen County!

The following people have formally declared their candidacy for office:

Todd Singer, Chair
Dale Wedel, Treasurer
Melanie Hughes, Secretary
Rebecca Sink-Burris, Co-Chair

Four 2008 Libertarian Presidential candidates have contacted Mike Sylvester and are considering attending the 2007 Convention. One candidate has confirmed her attendance and will be announced next week. Another candidate is in the process of making travel arrangements and may be announced next week.

A reception will be held for Mark Rutherford Friday night in Fort Wayne. This event is expected to draw Libertarians from all over Indiana! This event will feature gourmet food prepared by an Austrian chef (Jack Evans) and several Fort Wayne Libertarians (And their wives in my case). Mark Rutherford has been a tremendous asset to the Libertarian Party of Indiana and the party held in his honor will be an event that will be talked about by Indiana Libertarians for years to come.
