Burglars, Rapists and Child Molesters Rejoice Again - Government Priorities Again Avoid Vigorous Enforcement Against Real Crime

This is in today's Indianapolis Star: "State targets illicit electronic gambling".

Why can't government do the basics well? Why isn't fingerprinting burglary crime scenes and the assignment of the most experienced detectives to investigate burglaries the norm rather than the exception? Should government first stop violent crime first rather than make the world safe from those who gamble?

Government failure is all around. Look how poorly the Katrina relief efforts have been conducted by government. (Why do people think there should be more government? Do they want medical devices handled the same way the housing trailers were handled with Katrina? I can see it now - thousand of medical devices housed in government warehouses for years - people aren't helped and suffer- then a grand announcement they'll be used elsewhere rather than where originally intended after the devices have rusted and deteriorated a bit.)

Of course, if I was involved in organized crime, I'd be hoping for national health care. It will produce another fine black market and demand for goods at prices way higher than a free market would dictate - jail to doctors!!!!

Now back to my original point:

Vices aren't crimes. Government should learn the distinction.
