The Libertarian Party - For the Poor and Other Comments as We Celebrate July 4th

The Libertarian Party is about truly free markets and government doing a few things well, such as enforcement of laws against fraud. The federal government has grown so large and has lost so much focus, it was not able to do anything about the massive fraud perpetrated by Bernie Madoff over at least 16 years!

Libertarians are not a part of the Republicans or Democrats, which are advocates of special interest groups, such as corporations or unions.

Libertarians advocate for equality, fairness and the common woman/man. For example, Libertarians abhor the regressive Social Security tax, which only taxes a low level of income, which guarantees the poor have to pay a larger percentage of their limited income for the tax than the wealthy.

Libertarians also abhor all of the business regulations that prevent the poor from starting their own businesses by making it too difficult and expensive to do so. But the R's and D's prefer workers - they don't want them competing against their business owner elites.

Good post.

Most of us are against sales taxes. This collection of tax by businesses is despicable.

In recent years Indiana's sales tax went from 5% to 6% to now 7%. Just a penny! Just another penny! But these two hikes have raised taxes close to 40% (2/5) on the working poor. All their income goes to buying things (unless they rent) including food as they no longer have the time to cook. Note: My grandfather saw the work week drop to 48 then 40 hours per week. Now a family works over 70 hours per week in the U.S. and U.K.

I hope Libertarians can explain this difference.

Thanks for the following comment:

"Libertarians also abhor all of the business regulations that prevent the poor from starting their own businesses by making it too difficult and expensive to do so. But the R's and D's prefer workers - they don't want them competing against their business owner elites."

It's well worded and it will be something I carry with me during my campaign for Lorain, OH council at large. It is in opposition to the current plans of "community development."
